Dionysus is the Greek god of wine, vegetation, pleasure, festivity, madness and wild frenzy. He is generally depicted as either an older, bearded god or an effeminate, long-haired youth. His attributes included the thyrsos (a pine-cone tipped staff), a drinking cup and a crown of ivy. This bronze finished statue depicts Dionysus raising a toast with his drinking cup. An amphora of wine and a basket filled with grape, bread and pomegranates sits at his feet. Made of cold cast resin, it features hand painted accents to really show off the detail. Dionysus measures 10.75 inches tall, 4.25 inches long, and 3.5 inches wide. This piece is amazingly detailed, from the grape and leaf headpiece he wears to the accenting on the wine jug..
