This naturally occurring desert flower is made up of Selenite (gypsum) and Barite, with sand inclusions. The petals are created by crystals forming along gypsum’s characteristic cleavage planes. The desert rose form in arid conditions by evaporation of shallow salt basins over millions of years. White sands, New Mexico, is an oasis of gypsum sand dunes created by evaporation at Lake Lucero’s Alkali Flats. Each package contains one such “flower,” allowing you to carry it with you for protection and to bring the energetic qualities of the minerals with you wherever you go. Each stone measures approximately 1 1/2″ in diameter.
